What is the Application Deadline?
As we begin our review of applications in August, we suggest all application paperwork to be submitted by that time.
What Qualifications Do I Need to Apply?
A candidate is selected for Gastroenterology Fellowship based on a number of factors. These include but are not limited to performance on standardized test, grades and transcripts, letters of recommendation, degree of research experience, personal statements, academic interests, ability to speak and understand English, completion of Internal Medicine Residency training, a minimum of "Board Eligible" status, and interview performance.
International Medical Graduates (IMGs), J1 and H1 Visa holders, and permanent residents are welcome to apply.
Please note: An applicant who is expected to graduate (or has graduated) from a non-LCME accredited foreign medical school must satisfy New York State’s “12-week rule” (10 NYCRR § 405.4(f)(1)) to be eligible to participate in a medical residency/fellowship training program in New York State.
The rule, promulgated by the New York State Department of Health, provides that an individual who graduates from a non-LCME accredited foreign medical school may not train in New York State if his/her medical school education includes more than 12 weeks of clinical clerkship rotations outside of the country in which his/her medical school is located, unless the individual is eligible for licensure under New York State Education Law § 6528*. The New York State Department of Education has approved a list of schools that are exempt from this general rule. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.
