DOM Research Grant

The Department of Medicine Research Grant is intended to support early stage clinical research projects that have the potential to be competitive for external funding.

The DOM grant application form provides detailed instructions on the preparation and submission of the application. The application form follows the template of the Upstate Intramural Grant Program, and it anticipates that all applicable regulatory policies will be satisfied. The deadline for submission is May 1st, 2024.

DOM Grant Application

Grant Information

There are several items to consider when submitting a grant application, including the following:

  • The Principal Investigator (PI) is expected to be a full-time faculty member of the Department of Medicine.
  • The amount of support is currently capped at $20,000 for 1 year.
  • Submission or active grant by a PI is limited to one per year.
  • The PI needs to be a faculty member with a primary appointment in the DOM.
  • The grant applications will be scored on the basis of significance, impact, feasibility, qualifications of the PI and collaborators, potential to secure extramural support, and inclusion of trainees.
  • Trainees need to be involved and listed on the face page of the application.
  • A progress report will be expected upon completion of the project.
  • Applications will be reviewed by the DOM Research Council, with representatives sought from each Division. Members of the council will be excluded from scoring grants of a PI from the same division.
  • Applications and inquiries can be sent to Ms. Rosa Trpcevski at TrpcevsR@upstate.edu.

Funded Grants

At Upstate Medical University, financial support is a cornerstone of our commitment to fostering academic excellence and enabling students to pursue their medical aspirations. We take pride in offering a variety of funded grants and scholarships designed to provide assistance to our deserving students.

Our robust financial aid program includes internal scholarships, federal and state grants, and emergency funds, all aimed at supporting students throughout their educational journey. Additionally, through the Advocates for Upstate initiative, we have awarded nearly $4 million in grants since 2000, benefiting patient care, patient education, and scholarships. Our mission extends beyond education and research; it's about creating opportunities for students to thrive and contribute positively to the field of medicine.
