Fellow Social Life
At Upstate Medical University, we understand our Endocrinology fellows have social lives outside of their academic pursuits. In addition to their curriculum, our fellows participate in a variety of Endocrinology fellow social life activities, helping them to foster a stronger sense of community and camaraderie.
The fellows in the Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism Fellowship program have the opportunity to explore a robust social life with a dynamic group of peers in addition to their rigorous academic training. Upstate Medical University is proud to offer fellows a supportive and inclusive environment in which fellows get to gather, share experiences, and form long-lasting professional and social relationships with one another. This balance of work and social life contributes to their overall growth and health, preparing them for the demanding field of Endocrinology.
Each fellow has the opportunity to engage in a long list of social activities set up by the division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism medicine. From community outreach events to informal gatherings, these opportunities create a recreational atmosphere in which peers can get to know one another on a deeper and more personal level. This unique blend of professional and social experiences further enriches the fellowship program, allowing fellows to prosper through mutual interactions and leisure activities.
Hear from a few of our current fellows about their experiences in the Fellowship program:
"Shanti, Uthpala, and I love going to Green Lakes Park and hiking in Clark Reservation Park. We've also spent our free time cooking together and watching Indian movies at the Destiny Mall. I personally like jogging the path around Onondaga Lake Park and playing tennis in my free time." - Dr. Dhriti Das, PGY5
"I love going to Green Lakes State Park for a hike and enjoy their beautiful beach." - Dr. Akshata Chaugule, PGY4
Endocrinology Fellowship Events
End of Year Celebration: At the end of the academic year there is an informal celebration in honor of our graduating fellows. This is a chance for faculty and fellows, along with their families and guests, to say goodbye & best wishes.
Department of Medicine Picnic: The Department of Medicine welcomes the new residents/fellows and their families in the summer, inviting them to a social picnic at a local picnic venue. This provides an opportunity for the newly arriving families to get to know each other.
