Your Interview

The interview process at Upstate Medical University for its Rheumatology Fellowship program is a comprehensive and engaging opportunity for prospective fellows. Candidates have the unique experience during this Rheumatology interview of interacting with key figures in the program, including the Fellowship Coordinator, Fellowship Director, and select faculty members. This process provides valuable insight into the program's culture, commitment to learning, and dedication to fostering future leaders in Rheumatology.

The Interview Process

Interviews are typically conducted between September and October of each year. The Fellowship Selection Sub-Committees will extend interview invitations only after reviewing all completed applications. We will contact interviewing candidates (by email and/or by phone) as early as possible to permit suitable travel planning.

We interview about 12 candidates per available position.

Hotel and Travel Information

Syracuse is easily accessible by a variety of transportation means. It is located at the crossroads of two major interstate highways, I-90 (east-west) and I-81 (north-south). Syracuse's Hancock International Airport is served by six major airlines with approximately 200 passenger flights arriving and departing daily.

Greyhound and Trailways provide inter-city, inter-state bus service passenger service while CENTRO services the city and suburban areas. Amtrak provides rail passenger service to and from the William F. Walsh Regional Transportation Center.

Note to Applicants: We are not able to make arrangements for accommodations for each of you, but we would like to suggest The Genesee Grande Hotel or their partner hotels of Parkview Hotel and Hotel Skylar. They offer a reduced room rate ($108.48 with tax restrictions apply as rate is based off availability) and complimentary shuttle service (check with staff regarding hours of shuttle) to and from Hancock International Airport, the bus station, and the train station. Also, they are all within walking distance of Upstate Medical University.

Also check out the recently opened Marriott Syracuse Downtown (Former Hotel Syracuse) to request a special rate of $100 per night. Call (888) 236-2427 for reservations.

If you choose to stay in a hotel away from campus, cab fees range from $10 - $30 depending on where you choose to stay. Some hotels such as the Maplewood Inn provide free shuttles from their hotel to Upstate Campus, so please be sure to ask.
